The Vermont Gage gauge is used to measure the middle diameter of the internal and external threads. All in stock thread gauges are ANSI B1.2(unified British thread) and ANSI b1.16m (metric M series thread) standard X class precision thread gauges. Working plug gauges in stock are 2B and 3B precision (British) or 6H precision (metric). Thread ring gauges and adjusting plug gauges are 2A and 3A precision (in English) or 6g precision (in metric) working plug gauges in the library are chrome-coated. All thread gauges are clearly marked with the number of teeth in inch (in English) or pitch (in metric), precision class and diameter of the thread.

Standard thread measuring needle
The Vermont Gage thread gauge is often used in conjunction with the 1000 gauge to quickly and accurately measure the middle diameter of the external thread. Thread measuring pins can also be used to check for wear of thread plug gauges.
